Wicked

WICKED, the West End and Broadway musical sensation, is already the 9th longest running musical in London theatre history. Winner of over 100 major awards, including three Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and ten theatregoer-voted WhatsOnStage Awards (winning ‘Best West End Show’ on three separate occasions), the classic musical has now been seen by almost 10 million people in London alone.

‘An absolute blast.  Packed with wit, storming songs and beautiful costumes’ (The Guardian), WICKED imagines an ingenious backstory and future possibilities to the lives of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters from ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ and reveals the decisions and events that shape the destinies of two unlikely University friends on their journey to becoming Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

What's It About?

Wicked The Musical is loosely based on the novel of the same name written by Gregory Maguire.

The musical tells the story of the two witches who will become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. In this subversive retelling of the familiar story of Oz, the green-skinned Elphaba is a well-meaning outcast just trying to do the right thing, while the extroverted Glinda is just trying to be popular. The two meet in school, where their relationship and their lives take a number of startling turns.

Wicked The Musical has won numerous awards, including an Olivier Award for Most Popular Show, two Olivier Audience Awards and three WhatsOnStage Awards for ‘Best West End Show’.

From start to finish the performance was amazing. Our visit began as we walked up to the theatre and my twins (whose birthday treat it was) were in awe of the trademark Wicked sign which they stopped to have their photo taken in front of. Big smiles all around at that. Staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the poor guy that had to wait for the girls to decide what they wanted from the merchandise stand. He was so helpful and understanding. The performances were amazing, brilliant singing and dancing. My girls were supper hyped when 'Defying Gravity' began making their night. I would like to say thank you to everyone involved in making my twins birthday a memorable one.
