4 June 2022
My daughter and I enjoyed the play very much. If we had a criticism it would be that on occasions when actors turned away from where we were seated we couldn't hear what they were saying.
All your staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Much ado about EVERYTHING.
3 June 2022
A masterclass in shakespeare delivery, a clever and beautifully directed production that tickles in all the right places! Performances that leave your side sore with laughter and skin covered in goosebumps. The setting and gender swap of some of the characters lends so well to the story and brings a new depth to the bards classic work. Superb.

Fun and full of energy
2 June 2022
Much Ado is one of Shakespeares better plays (and London knows this considering how many productions of the play dot up throughout the years) - and this production takes the better qualities of the play and amplifies them. We are invited to comment vocally throughout the production our thoughts and feelings and every actor reciprocates. Fantastic show, if only let down by some of the cast being too quiet in moments so you lose the language.

Much ado…
30 May 2022
I’ve been going to theatres for 50 years and this was one of THE most enjoyable performances I’ve ever witnessed. Such creative direction that pulled all the humour out of the play and what superb performances. A triumph, thank you.

It will keep you captivated
29 May 2022
I cannot imagine a better retelling of Much Ado… that pairs the humor of Shakespeare (you WILL laugh) with the powerful monologues delivered by its key players. I remained on the edge of my seat for the majority of the play, if only to get closer and make sure I did not miss one clever reference or well timed gesture. Each member of the cast delivered a solid performance, contributing the intensity and humor that a Shakespeare play deserves. You will leave the play thinking, “Now that is Shakespeare!”

What a wonderful performance! The staging, the acting, the dancing were all superb. I don’t usually like Shakespeare done in more modern attire but this production worked well.

Much Ado about under-studies
25 May 2022
When we went to see Much Ado on Sunday 22 May two of the parts - Benedick and Boracio - were taken by understudies. They did their best but they were clearly under-prepared, with their noses in the script much of the time and wearing rehearsal clothes, unlike the rest of the cast. Surely for a production like this, you should have understudies (especially for a major part such as Benedick) who are fully prepared and capable of giving a full performance.

20 May 2022
I loved this production of Much Ado About Nothing - great acting, engaging, funny, effective use of space and so much more. The actors showed great respect for the poetry rather than gabbling it. My enjoyment was slightly spoiled in the second half when some youngsters chatted throughout - despite constant reminders to be quiet.

Much Ado About Something
15 May 2022
Yesterday (Saturday) went to see afternoon production of Much Ado with a friend. Brilliant production as usual from the Globe. Light handed with many excellent 'moments' brilliant dancing and a few surprises. May go again later in the season in the evening.
The only problem was 2 members of the audience on the far left father and daughter who talked throughout the performance had their phones out and were a nuisance to many other theatre goers they should have been asked to leave. Very poor audience management.

Nothing About Much Ado
14 May 2022
I have questions are for the director. what did setting this play in postwar Italy reveal about the text? Why was Beatrice persuing a physical version of 'merriment' as main character trait? Did you expect babbling courtyard fountain to reduce audibility of actors? What happens when talented actors perform skillful dance? without joy?
I enjoyed the restsint and timing of Benedict, the costumes were appealing, and I loved the accordion players who untimateky bore witness to a frenetic but joyless performance (matinee may 13).
Sometimes Globe productions are both Show And Tell of Shakespeare. They do not trust the audience. This was one such.

This was a wonderful production which really utilized the language play to bringing it all to life. I feel more could have been made of John Don, but the actors, especially Beatrice and Leonata, were a joy. Loved the interactivity too. Well worth seeing if you can.

Much Ado about Noting
1 May 2022
I've always been a bit baffled by the bits of the play that are not to do with Benedict and Beatice, but this production makes it clear that it has everything to do with battle hardened soldiers, recently returned from war, trusting each other more than the women they are due to marry. During the course of the play they are shown the errors of their ways . Benedict shows them a different mindset, one that will lead to a happy relationship. The Italian 1945 setting suited the action of the play perfectly and the 5 strong women's accordian band produced haunting music. Changing the father and uncle to a mother and aunt made a great deal of sense. All the clowning and verbal sparring made it a hugely entertaining production.

"Much Ado" moved to the 20th century. I've seen the play many times but this was my favourite. The Globe's stage was brilliantly used, the humour came over well, the cast were all very good (even the read-in actor) and I loved the smooth unobtrusive way props and furniture were moved by the cast.

30 April 2022
Lucy Bailey tries to have it both both ways and succeeds , keeps it soufflé light and the comedy to the fore and very festive , the changing of certain gender roles works . This is a female household , the Men are at war . The Solders arrive , the War of the sexes takes place inside the war outside. The casting of Beatrice and Benedict is the most important part of this play and In this production we have two excellent stars , The rest of the cast are equally fab with one exception. The interaction with the the audience in Shakespeares comedies is key and this production gets the balance just right. All Shakespeare’s plays are problem plays. Lucy tries manfully to deal with Claudio , but doesn’t succeed , he is let off and received in the bosom of the happy ending as is John the Bastard , are we sure of his punishment
